Dryspell
(Solo Designer)
“Long ago, this place was a garden, luscious, teeming with life. Now it’s nothing but wasteland as far as the eye can see. People used to thrive here, with the help of the wizards. Their spells mighty and grandiose, using water, the lifeblood and origin of all that walks this earth, as their ammunition. However, the spellcasters greed went too far, and they used too much.
Now there’s nothing left but the dust.
Resources are scarce in the wasteland. The only things left living in these parts are a few survivors scraping together what they can to get by. Everyone’s hungry, and thirst is a constant friend. What they do have they use in pursuit of more. Wizards squeeze out their very last drops of water in hopes of defeating others, just to plunder their loot stashes for themselves.
You best be prepared partner, it’s a dog drink dog life out here and we’re in one hell of a Dryspell“
Dryspell is a 1v1 pvp party fighter
Players fight by using cards drawn from a deck to create spells. Players mix and match to create targets, cause effects and try to reduce their opponents life to zero.
Player turns resolve simultaneously, and all action takes place on a board of 5 tiles for each combatant.
Players start each of their turns by first deciding movement. The player is given a set of options to move along the board. Both players select their declaration of movement, and then move to the next draw phase. The movement they chose is not resolved until the final resolution phase.
Players draw a set of three cards to decide their targets. Target cards have descriptions such as “target your opponents square 2 spaces to the right of yours” once both players have selected, their target hands are set aside, and both proceed to draw three cards for the effect stage.
Effect cards have descriptions such as “Do 3 damage”. After both players have chosen their effect cards, their effect hands are set aside, and draw three cards for a final selection phase.
These are the Special/Extra cards, they have descriptions as “Burn for 1 extra damage next round.” Once both players have chosen their Extra card, their extra hand is set aside, and the resolution phase begins.
In the resolution phase. Both players first move to the space chosen in the movement phase. Then their spell is put together from the selections they made during the Target, Effect, and Extra phase, and it is fired. If both players are still alive after this resolution. All cards that were selected as part of their spell are discarded and go back into the deck, and players continue play in the same routine as the previous round. Drawing new cards at the beginning of each step to renew their handsize at 3.
